Cable Network

In my town Comcast controls all cable connections. If you want any other service for your television, phone, or computer you must use telephone or satellite methods. This allows Comcast to have a monopoly on cable service. The service is selected by the town administration without any input from the citizens of the town.
I believe there should be a method in which many companies can use the same cable lines for television as the electric companies do for electrical service.. This would result in two bills to the consumer. There would be one bill for the service and maintenance of the cable, and another for the signal. Dish or direct tv could receive from their satellite and download onto the cable network. No more satellite dishes on houses. You would only install the modem/receiver of the company you wish to receive your television service from.
This would be for television only. There is already competition for telephone and Internet via phone lines. The new fiber optic lines are very competitive to cable service.
Another method to compete with cable would be to use power lines. Because the transformers for each resident act like a scrambler to electronic signals, it was considered not possible to use them. However if a fiber optic cable were used to jumper around the transformer the signal would not be scrambled.
There are a lot of options for better and more economical methods to the consumer than being locked into a particular cable company. The problem right now is they do not exist. Consumers must insist that the city government investigate into changes and cable competition. Also generate alternative methods like power lines. Contact your political leaders about this issue. Remind them this is an election year and resolution to this would be in there favor.
