Is it right top executives should make more money?

Recently I was asked if it was right that top executives should make significantly more money than the workers that produce the product. An example was given that the CEO of a company receives $200,000 a year, while a data entry clerk only gets $40,000 a year and the price of the product remains high.
First lets consider the tasks and responsibilities of each. The data entry clerks work experience may vary from none to several years. They work eight hours a day five days a week. They receive two 15 minute payed breaks per day. If they work over the forty hours a week they will get payed time and one half for the time. They may receive 5 days of sick time with pay. They will receive holiday pay and if they work the holiday will make double pay. For this pay the clerk is required enter data into the computer, edit any data that is incorrect, and make a report at end of day. If any machine is inoperable of lacking capacity of multiple users and they cannot perform there job they will wait until the situation is repaired at full pay. There prime focus is on entering data. Not on any aspects of the product (size, shape, quality, cost,etc.). If the clerk does substandard work, They cannot be fired immediately. It must be proven that substandard work was done and when told of it has a chance to improve. If after many improving attempts have been given and not successful than the clerk can be released. This may take months or possibly years depending on the infraction.
Now lets view the CEO. His work experience has been many years in all facets of the company. They are payed a flat salary. They are required to work as many hours as needed to maintain the company business. They do not receive separate pay for holidays or over forty hours per week. They do have to address problems with cost, operations of all department, the product (size, shape, quality, cost,etc.). They have to meet with and negotiate with other CEO's of suppliers and customers.
In conclusion I would use a similarity as a child getting $5 a week for doing chores around the house as compared to a parent who gets $40 a week for running the family (cooking, cleaning,attending child's activities, etc,). Why should a parent get eight times the money for not having to do any labor. If the child does a bad job, are they not given many chances for improvement? If the parent does a bad job the neighbors or social workers will step in and break-up the family.
